Ying and Yang

U.S. Representative Tom Rooney honored the finalists from Florida’s 17th district for the Congressional Art Competition including our very own Agustin Baltazar. His work, "Ying and Yang" was selected as the Facebook Fan Favorite and will hang in Congressman Rooney’s Washington, D.C. office for a duration of a year.

High school students in St. Lucie, Indian River, Okeechobee and Martin were encouraged to create videos that highlight the benefits of the RCCPC career pathways program. There will be one $1,000 IRSC scholarship awarded to a winner from each county served by the RCCPC (St. Lucie, Indian River, Okeechobee, & Martin).

Automotive Students Bring Home Second

UTI

2nd Place

Students from Automotive classes brought home a second place finish after competing in Universal Technical Institute’s Top Tech Challenge. Two teams from Okeechobee competed in a field of twenty-one teams at the Orlando events. Alex Bryan (16) and Joel Contreras (17) won a $7500 scholarship. The school won a $1500 voucher for Snapon tools and a pretty cool trophy.

Junior Academic Recognition

Juniors sign banner showing their commitment to graduate during an assembly this past week. Students maintaining a 3.5 or higher, scoring a 3,4, or 5 on AP exams, and becoming college ready were all recognized.

Sophomores gathered in the lecture hall to celebrate academic achievements. Students were recognized for have a 3.5 gpa or higher and scoring a 3,4 or 5 on an AP Exam. At the conclusion, all sophomores showed their commitment to graduate by signing a banner.

October Students of the Month

Highlights from 2014-2015

Nine seniors completed the Associate of Arts degree from Indian River State College before high school graduation, up from four in 2013-14.  Students were awarded 271 Industry Certifications in the Agriculture, Automotive, Construction, Digital Design, Health, and Technology fields, up from 103 in 2013-14.
